Brief history of Diocese:
The Karnataka Northern Diocese is one of the 22 Dioceses of the Church of South India. The Diocese came into existence in the year 1970. The Rt Revd Norman Sargant was the first Bishop of the Diocese. The territorial jurisdiction of the Diocese covering 10 revenue districts in Northern Karnataka. The total Christian population is 80,000. The Diocese is divided into 4 areas and each area is managed by the Area Chairman. There are 82 Ministerial Workers, 3 Lady Pastors and 6 Evangelists, 4 Degree Colleges, 2 Junior Colleges, 7 High Schools, 3 Eng. Med. Schools, 16 Primary Schools spread over in the Diocese and 1 Teachers Training College.

We do not have any previous partnership links with the dioceses of the Anglican Communion.
Reason for wanting a Link:
- There are many Anglican Churches in the Diocese and we would like to have a special link in partnerships with other places on the Communion.
- To share our joys and sorrows and pray for each other.
- To grow in Christian fellowship.
- To establish partnership in mission of the church within both the Anglican Communion and the wider church.
What expectations you have of the Link?
To have mutual understanding and responsibilities and inter dependence in the Body of Christ which leads to the Partnership in Mission. To enables the local church to analyse its own situation, develop its own priorities. To have mutual consultations between the local church and its partners in the world-wide church. Exchange of ministerial staff.
What part of the world you would like your Link to be?
Japan, Korea, England, Kenya.
Describe the style and patterns of church life and ministry in your diocese.
- There are both urban Churches and rural Churches in our Diocese. We have both Anglican style of worship as well as Basel Mission Evangelical style of worship.
- The worship services take place in Kannada, Telugu and also English languages. Along with Sunday worship services.
- We also have Sunday School for children, Women Fellowship, Youth Fellowship, Choir Groups.
- We have regular prayer groups which visit homes for family prayer and fellowship.

Yes, we would like to have a wider fellowship in the mission of the Church.
